Small group of 3 trucks met a Bells Corners. To my surprise I was elected trail leader. After a short discussion we decided that none of us knew anything about finding Griffith trail head.
So the Rusty Bat was our new destination. 2 JK’s and one Toyota. We met Ed along the way.
Arrived at the trail head about 10:30 and proceeded to air down. We all took run at the rock face and succeeded except for Ed. Seems his trailer hitch got hung up and ended up being parked vertically on the rock face.
Which his daughter was not impressed, couple of tears and quite pale. With a short tug Ed was free.
We continued towards the top and 3 of us tried that steep step hill climb. None of us climbed it.
Lunch at the top was fantastic. Light wind to keep the bugs away.
We proceeded back down after our lunch. With very few trucks we made very short work of the Rusty Bat.
Once arriving back at the trail head and being only 1:30 seems a few didn’t have enough. Pat, Paul & Cindy, and I decided to hit the Gorge on the way home.
Gorge was overgrown, and somewhat hard to pick up the trail at spots. There has been some type of logging going on. The 3 of us stuck together and made short work of the Gorge as well.
Although we didn’t go to the end we all managed to have enough wheeling for the day after playing at all the fun spots, we decided to head back.
We exited the trail at 6 p.m. The day turned out to be excellent weather wise and no damage.
