Before the province loosened restrictions, the club had to make the difficult call to cancel Camp EOTB 2020. Since we could not run camp, but we can run trail runs, we thought we’d setup a jam-packed weekend of trail runs with a bit of a twist to make it a weekend to remember.
We have scheduled 5 trail runs in two days. Don’t worry, you’ll have your Monday holiday to recover. You might finally get a chance to try out those trail lights and rock lights!
Register
To help us plan accordingly, please register for each of the trail runs you plan to attend. The upshot, you’ll be taking care of the trail waiver at the same time!
Scheduled Runs
Lavant Lookout is a trail that leads to a scenic lookout near Lavant. The trail is rocky, with some tight sections and a few muddy sections. There is a rock garden, known as the mine field, that requires careful navigation before reaching the top. On this run, we will also tackle run the trail from the back door and head up to the lookout, adding an extra challenge to the event. It is also recommended that you carry a tow strap and some shackles as basic extraction equipment. Bug spray and sunscreen may also be wise. As we can never be certain what will transpire on the trail, we cannot guarantee a return time. Even though it is our intent to be off the trail at a reasonable time, come prepared for a long day with extra food and water. The Calabogie Line is a 4.5km stretch of power line that roughly runs parallel to Calabogie road. The entrance is just north of where the power line intersects the road and heads north-north-east from there, exiting onto Ferguson Lake road. The trail has experienced relatively light use, although it is commonly used by dirt bikes. The start time for this event is not a typo. The event will begin in the evening, allowing members to do a Saturday double-header and put those trail lights to good use.
