Member Run – Crag Lake Adopt-a-Trail @ Crag Lake Trail
May 9 all-day

In partnership with the OF4WD, the EOTB has adopted the Crag Lake trail. We will run the Crag Lake trail with a focus on clearing any debris or trees that may have come down over the winter months, trim branches encroaching on the trail and pick-up any garbage we find along the way.

While we will be running the trail, you can expect that progress will be slower than usual as we work to maintain the trail.

Meeting Place

Primary Meeting Location: The Bogie General Store at 9:00am

Given the length of the trail, we will forego the usual meeting spot in Bells Corners and meet at The Bogie General Store at the intersection of Highways 508 and 511.

Departure

We will be leaving no later than 9:30am.

Equipment

Since this is a trail maintenance event, we recommend you bring some work gloves and appropriate tools. We will likely require one or more chainsaws to clear downed trees, clippers and machetes to trim branches and we will bring garbage bags to collect any garbage we find along the way.

Requirements

Tow Points are mandatory for this trail. A lift and 33″ or larger tires is recommended for this trail.

Fuel

Please come to the meeting location fully fueled and ready to roll.

Non-Members

This is a members only run. If you wish to invite a non-member, please contact the trail leader to confirm that this event is suitable for your guest.

CB Radios

Please tune your CB to channel 4.  No CB?  Bring your FRS radio tuned to channel 4.

Reminders

Remember to bring a lunch, plenty of water, boots, cameras and your sense of adventure. It is also recommended that you carry a tow strap and some shackles as basic extraction equipment. Bug spray and sunscreen may also be wise.

Open Run – Adopt-a-Road Clean-up @ The Bogie General Store
Jun 6 all-day

Description

The EOTB has adopted a 2km stretch of Calabogie Road, northeast of The Bogie General Store. Twice a year, as part of the Adopt-a-Road program, the EOTB take a crew out to clean-up garbage along that 2km stretch. The process usually takes less than two hours, and we end the day with a short trail run, likely the Calabogie Line.

Meeting Place

To avoid delays in getting to the trail, we will skip the Bells Corners meeting place, and meet directly in Calabogie at The Bogie General Store.

Departure

We will meet at 10:00am to begin the highway clean-up.

Primary Meeting Location: We will depart for the trail once the highway clean-up is completed

Requirements

Tow Points are mandatory for this trail. We also recommend you carry a tow strap and some shackles.

For the highway clean-up, we will provide garbage bags and rubber gloves, but recommend you bring your own gloves and wear high visibility clothing (bright colors). Bug spray and sunscreen may also be wise.

Gas

Please come to the meeting location fully fueled and ready to roll.

Non-Members

Non-Members are welcome. Please bring cash or cheque for the $20.00 guest fee. This is collected at every trail run for non-members and is applied towards your $40.00 membership fee if you join. Please bring exact change.

While guests are welcome to join us for this event, this trail does not have as many bypasses as our usual open events.

CB Radios

Please tune your CB to channel 4. No CB? Bring your FRS radio tuned to channel 4.

Member Run – Bear Skulls
Jul 11 all-day

Description

Bear Skulls gets its name from a pair of bear skulls we discovered perched on a rock next to the trail. It is a short trail, but it isn’t without it’s challenges. While the trail has been negotiated by a stock 4-door JK, it is tight, and has several optional obstacles that will certainly challenge even the most modified vehicle. Among these optional obstacles there is a tight squeeze that has been known to tear soft tops, an arm-wrenching rock climb and the infamous waterfall, that still hasn’t been done without the use of a winch.

There is an extended section of the trail that features a steep climb, however the last several trips to the trail, we’ve had to skip it due to damage, or simply being late in the day.

Meeting Place

Meeting Location: Bogie General Store (formerly Munford’s) in Calabogie @ 10:00am
