What is Geocaching?

From geocaching.com: Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.

For EOTB members Geocaching is a game played with a 4-wheel-drive truck, a GPS and a bunch of your closest friends travelling the back roads and trails of Eastern Ontario in search of hidden containers. It’s an opportunity to explore new areas, a chance to hone GPS skills, an excuse to get outside off the beaten path and have some fun.

You can use this web site to follow EOTB travel bugs as they make their way around the valley, around the province, around the world.

Better yet watch our calendar for a club geocaching event and come out and join us for the day. It’s a great family activity and the kids will enjoy the ride to the destination as much as trading toys in the cache itself.
